Macy’s 4th of July

Macy’s wanted to bring the Brooklyn Bridge to life as the centerpiece of their fireworks show. A story of America, perfectly synced across both pillars of the Bridge — a live event broadcast nationally on NBC.

Art on theMART

At more than 2.5 acres, theMART is the largest permanent architectural video projection in the United States — a nightly canvas of work from selected artists, mapped across the riverfront façade and visible across Chicago’s Loop and West Loop.

Antarctic Dome immersive projection at Coachella
Coachella, Indio CA2017

Antarctic Dome

A metamorphic journey through space-time, commissioned by Goldenvoice and HP. Inside a 120-foot dome, 500+ festival-goers were treated to mind-shredding visuals from a wide roster of collaborators, every fifteen minutes.

What began in 2021 as an idea to breathe life back into downtown San Francisco has grown into a ten-day event — 128,000 attendees in 2025, eight light installations and work from nineteen local and international artists.

In the home of Bruce Springsteen, the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park was brought to life across two nights with work from six artists — funded to help breathe new life into the town.

Al Wasl Pavilion dome with immersive projection, Dubai
Dubai, UAE2021 – Ongoing

Al Wasl Pavilion

In partnership with Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, the team created the largest immersive hemispherical projection installation to date — awarded a Guinness World Record in 2023. Content strategy, spatial + projection design, systems design and implementation consultation.

The Studio

Platypus was founded to bring together deep production experience and a creative-first approach. The two founders met working in spatial media at Obscura and have led the technical and creative sides of the industry’s most ambitious work ever since. Together they’ve also collaborated with Chroma, HUSH, Minds Over Matter and NEP Sweetwater.

A systems and production engineer with two decades in large-scale light. Ryan was a Senior Systems Engineer at Obscura and MSG, stood up and ran the Support & Maintenance team at Gensler DxD, and at A3 Immersive served as Director of Technical Production before leading the division as VP of Immersive.

Co-Founder, CCO

A technical director and creative technologist with two decades in spatial media. Joseph was Technical Director at Obscura and MSG, and Director of Technical Strategy at ARTECHOUSE — shaping the technical vision behind ambitious immersive work.
